This will actually be about me and baseball, since this is a “MLB Blog.”
I, like many of you, was born a Giants fan. I was born and raised in Hayward and even though I no longer live in the Bay Area, I am a true Bay Area girl. A fan of all Bay Area teams, but my heart was always with the SF Giants. The first baseball game I ever went to was in the mid 80’s. I actually won the tickets through a Bay Area radio station, KFRC.
I remember getting to Candlestick Park and being so excited about just being there. I will never forget the first time I saw The Baseball Diamond, the field I have seen so many times before on TV. What a beautiful sight. I will never forget the first time seeing the baseball field. I was IN LOVE! I got goose bumps then and still do when I go to AT&T Park. I love it.
I also recall falling in love with #22 Will Clark (Will “the Thrill” Clark). He was bigger than life on TV and even more so in-person. I remember players like Jose Uribe, Bob Brenley, Robby Thompson, Kevin Mitchell, Matt Williams, Mike Krukow, Dave Dravecky, Candy Maldonado, and Roger Craig at the helm.
I have been to at least one game every year since then. I now live in the Central Valley but still make it out to the yard, whenever possible. I am also a mother of two and I have raised them right, as Giants fans. Not bad for a single mom. Now… they will always remember players like Pablo “Panda” Sandoval, Aaron Rowand, Tim Lincecum, Buster Posey, Brian Wilson, Aubrey Huff, and I can go on and on. I look forward to more in the near future and years to come.
**Just watched Juan Uribe’s homerun!!” Yeah Baby!! Now Edgar Renteria!!! OMG!
